Download openJean 0.9

Development background

OpenJean was conceived and developed by Mike Curtis, founder of MullSoft. Mike developed openJean to solve his own need for organising information. The full rationale for its development is given in the white paper.

Mike has worked on openJean on a part-time basis for the past five years, when other work commitments allowed. The Multimedia and Images catalogs have been tested extensively and Multimedia has been used to store and access over a terabyte of data. A Bookings module was written for a holiday business and has been used live for the past three years, testing both the openJean framework and AddressBook to the full.

OpenJean has been developed as far as version 0.9 and is now being opened up as an open source project, hosted by Sourceforge.

This site is hosted by MullSoft Ltd. who will not make any revenue directly from the open source product, but will offer customisation services and training and other catalogs, developed independently of the open source project. Because of the nature of the license used by openJean, any other company is also free to offer these additional services and products in competition with MullSoft.
