There is sometimes a requirement that the set of JEAN nodes exported for an ETV operation be filtered first. The filter takes the form of a JEAN Search Criterion saved under the name etv name-filter.xml under the same transformer key. The criterion is applied to the currently selected node(s) when the ETV operation is invoked, and the resulting set of nodes is the one that is supplied to the exporter. When the administration menu item to define a new ETV filter is selected then, unless the filter is simple then a normal JEAN Search Criterion dialog is shown.
Often the filter that needs to be applied is a simple check to select those nodes which have one single attribute with a particular value. These filters are somewhat simpler to define and use. When a simple filter is defined then the way in which the filter is applied is different.
