Editing is the process where we change the values of attributes. How the actual change is made depends on the type of data; a simple STRING attribute can just have new text written into it, a FILE attribute must be made to point to a different file on your machine.
The usual way to edit values of attributes is to select the item in question and choose the edit option from the menu for that catalog. For instance, in JEANnotes, a note is created using the Create a note menu option and edited using Edit a note.
Prior to version 1.1, the main way in which items were edited was to right click in the AttributeDisplayPanel, as follows. When the attributes of a node are displayed in an AttributeDisplayPanel, values that are not read-only can be edited. A right click on the attribute value field gives the choice of editing the page or value. Selection brings up an editor dialog with all the attributes on the page or just the one, as appropriate. If the value is read-only, or if the right-click is made on the page background, then the only option is to edit the page.
